Silent Sports
We are a community of enthusiasts at all ability levels. The northwoods provide us with a mecca of silent sport trails. Though our group was founded for XC skiing, we also bike, hike, and downhill skiing.
Community
Community is important to us. The Vilas and Oneida county regions are populated with thriving families and retired individuals. Our group is one avenue to support the power of gathering.

NSTA is a member only club. We support regional or local events. You will find events to local and community events here.
About NSTA
The NSTA Board welcomes you to our website. According to our bylaws: “The purpose of the Association shall be for the advancement and enjoyment of cross country skiing”. However, we also enjoy the silent sports of hiking, biking, alpine skiing and paddling on both lakes and streams. NSTA is a fun group. We promote exercise, safety, socializing and food!
The geographical extent of our membership has traditionally been the Headwaters area of northern Wisconsin, centered on Vilas and Oneida counties.
Active membership is limited to 150, with an “emeritus” section in addition to the active group. New members are sponsored by the active members in the club. Our outings are planned by member volunteers who schedule events in all the various activities for the entire membership.
